Catalonia is steeped in a centuries-old culture, which includes tasty gastronomic customs such as the tradition of Tots Sants (All Saints’ Day) on November 1 with chestnuts, sweet potatoes and the delicious smalls sweets known as “panellets”.
This is no ordinary cookie: its origins can be traced back to Roman times. Made with a marzipan base of sugar, egg and ground almonds, although the recipes vary considerably from one household to another. Traditionally they are covered with pine nuts, almonds, but now we can find them a range of tastes: lemon, orange, coconut, chocolate, strawberry, quince or coffee…
